A Surprise Trip To Laramie!

When we discovered our newest grand baby would receive her name and blessing at a time the temple would be closed for cleaning, we decided, with President Wong's approval, to surprise Kevin and Paige by coming to Laramie to be a part of this special occasion in their lives.  But, we also decided to keep it a secret from them until we arrived.
However, we thought it was best to let Danielle and Jeremy in on our secret.
After getting checked in, we saw the number of gates at the HK airport,
and felt grateful that our flight wasn't boarding at Gate #530.
However, Gate#80 wasn't a hop skip and a jump away either.
Our plan was to leave on Thanksgiving in Hong Kong and arrive the next day on Thanksgiving in Laramie.  However, our flight from Hong Kong was delayed because a truck ran into the plane while sitting on the tarmac, leaving a small hole to repair.  So after sitting on the plane for three hours, we were informed that our flight would not be leaving until the next afternoon.
This meant going back to the United Airlines check-in counter to pick up our new flight information and meal vouchers, and checking into the airport hotel.
This is what we saw as we walked over to the hotel.
No shortage of taxis at this airport.  We couldn't even see the end of the line.

Our first part of the evening was spent trying to decide which of the numerous eating establishments we wanted to have dinner.  We knew we had picked the right place when the hostess escorted us to a table and we heard Neil Diamond singing, Forever In Blue Jeans.
The entrees were very satisfying, but the dessert was even better.
Fresh mango and coconut rice.
The rest of our evening was spent on the internet getting reservations changed, and letting Danielle know our arrival would be delayed.
The next morning we walked into a cafe for breakfast and noticed almost everyone was wearing a coat.  That must have sent a subliminal message to our brains, because even though it wasn't particularly cold outside,
hot chocolate sounded good.
This is how it is served. complete with syrup, chocolate shavings, cream and marshmallows,
 but you pour your own.

Our flight left Friday afternoon, and 22 hours after that, we finally arrived in Laramie.  Of course, Thanksgiving was over.
But, we made it safely,
and it was fun to see Paige's face when she answered the door at 9:00pm,
and just as much fun to see Kristin's reaction.

We finally got to hold our little angel.

Blessing day, Sunday November 29, 2015.

SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR TRIP
This is what we saw from our hotel window.  Snow and cold temperatures.
Sure glad we brought our coats, hats and gloves.
Paige, Mary Dawn, and Timber
Three Generations
Grandpa Gary and Grandpa Bruce
Love my daughters!
(And daughters-in-law)

PDA in front of Matthew.
Nice looking couple.
A game of 'Get the Oreo from your forehead into your mouth without using your hands'
Not an easy task, but Jeremy had a strategy that worked well enough to make him the winner.
Danielle solved the mystery of the 'Knock, Knock' Game
A mean game of Monopoly
Kaylee and Ady gave us a ride.
Racing down the stairs with Aunt Kristin
Sisters getting along.
Gathered around the fireplace, with a bear lurking close by.
She did it!  Did what?
Our professional photographer at work.
Dinner at Applebee's the night before Kristin left.
We took Kristin to the airport at 6:00am.
She only needed to arrive 15 minutes before her flight.
That is how small the airport is in Laramie.
I had to hold back the tears.
Breakfast together at AmericInn Lodge before the Parks got on their way.
We learned that even a seven and four-year old can keep a secret.
This was our view from the hotel at Denver's airport.
The airport is just a short walk across a courtyard from the Westin Hotel.
It was convenient, but too high-priced for convenience.
In contrast to Laramie's airport, we had to check in two hours ahead.
Daddy and Daughter
Baby makes three!

Our Timber Ryan is precious to us, and we are grateful for the Lord's tender mercy that allowed us to hold her and spend time with her Mommy and Daddy for a few days.
Time with Danielle's family and Kristin was an added bonus.
These few days went by so quickly.
Again, it was a bittersweet goodbye.
