A Day Trip To Cheung Chau Island!

We chose to spend our 'P-Day' taking the ferry to explore Cheung Chau Island.
There are no cars on this island.  The residents and tourists either ride bikes or walk to where they are going.
This was one of the first things we saw upon arriving.
Bikes were everywhere, and it was evident that they are the main mode of transportation here.
Some even had covers for the infant seat.
Not just bikes, but boats are everywhere too.
fA couple of fishermen preparing for their day's work.
We are fairly certain this is the boat Jeremy Renner escaped on in the Bourne Ultimatum movie.
Couldn't resist a skewered spiraled potato, and frozen fruit kabob.
It looks like I couldn't resist closing my eyes for the camera either.
Found the beach, but where is the Little China Wall?
Our main attraction to see on this island was the Little Great Wall of China.
Had a little trouble finding the right direction to The Wall, but no trouble in finding the beach.
'Please, somebody.  Which way do we go?'
After asking for directions, we found the way, and as it turns out it isn't just little, it is mini.
This is it.  Not quite like the Great Wall of China.
This looked like a great view for a photo while walking the Little Great Wall trail.
About half way, we saw this fisherman.  He had no pole;
only a line with some kind of bait tied on the end.
We didn't see him catch anything, but of course, we only watched for a few minutes.
Stands containing fire sticks were located along the trail.
Elder Bodily tried one out.
This was the view at the end of the wall.  It took about an hour to reach this point,
and only half that time to get back.
Our next stop was Cheung Po Tsai Cave
But, it is on the other side of the island.
Not a big deal though.  In some spots the width of this island is so small, the average person can walk from one side to the other in less than 15 minutes.
We needed to walk through the village to get there, and saw some interesting things along the way.
Bicyclists ring their bell as they approach to give warning of their coming.
We were warned a number of times to get out of the way.
We happened upon a these students just getting out of school for the day.
All students wear school uniforms.
Some homes looked rather old and dilapidated, and more bikes parked along the way.
Others more modern and well maintained.
Its not uncommon to see laundry hung out the window.
Creative clothes dryers.  Not quite like Grandma's clothes line though.
Some clothes are hung from the roof.
Stopped for a short break at a small park before walking the rest of the way.
It took us about an hour from the time we headed back,
to reach the entrance to the cave.
 Elder Bodily entering the cave.
Elder Bodily exiting at the other end.
This cave was believed to be the hiding place of a 19th Century pirate.
On our way back to the ferry, we had one last chance to buy some dried delicacies,
but eating a star fish doesn't sound the least bit appetizing.  We passed that opportunity up.
Highlights of our day!
Maybe we'll make another day of it sometime, and if we do, we'll rent a bike for ourselves,
one equipped with a bell.
